Paint Carving is a process

filled with Intention and intuition

Paint carving begins with creating the panel. Lovingly layered with 40 - 75 applications of acrylic based house paint, the creation of the panel takes weeks to months to build.

From there, I create an intentional & thoughtful design based on the color palette of the panel. Once the carving begins though, the lines simply flow and sometimes follow paths I didn’t expect - which is so exciting!

I intuitively carve away from the top layer, creating a low-relief sculptural artwork - revealing the colors and soul of the panel beneath.

I get giddy just thinking about it ;)

Collect a Custom Carving

  • Here’s a general sizing and pricing guide. The creation of the panel itself takes weeks (sometimes months) to build before I can begin the carving. This lengthy creation process is built into the cost of the commission.

    Many larger or funky sizes available upon request, including round panels. Don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions!

  • Please feel free to fill out this form or reach out via email to discuss the idea for your project. I don’t know if you can tell but I absolutely love carving - it’s like meditative movement - so I would be deeply excited to work with you to create something special.

    General ideas to get you started:

    • a specific type of flora or fauna

    • a color palette

    • a specific nature element

    • a previous work that you would like to see a variation of (perhaps a different size, color scheme, or focal point but a similar concept or design!)

  • Once we have an idea, I’ll sketch a design (or two!) and send it over to you for final approval. Any desired changes need to be addressed at this stage due to the time-consuming nature of the layering process. At this time, a 30% deposit is required to move forward with the final step in the process - the carving!

  • The final step to bring your idea to life! I will begin layering the colors & carving your design.

    (Thank you for your understanding that this process takes time. I can only apply 2 layers per day, as I have discovered through trial and error that the paint needs to be fully cured between layers *. )

    Please allow at least 3 months total from the beginning of the layering process until your piece is ready to be shipped.

    I will package and send it off with love. I promise it will be worth the wait!
